Gopher Hole is an indoor sports entertainment lounge designed to bring the community together. Located above Brisket n’ Bourbon, a new restaurant in a historic downtown Abingdon building, our space combines history with modern technology by focusing on preserving the history of the small town, while still pushing modern innovation.

MISSION

At Gopher Hole, we blend the thrill of golf with the warmth of community, offering a welcoming space for all. Housed in a historic building in downtown Abingdon, our lounge combines high-tech golf simulation with a vibrant social atmosphere.

More than just a golf lounge, Gopher Hole is a place to connect, unwind, and create lasting memories—whether you’re perfecting your swing or enjoying a night out with friends.

BRAND DESIGN

The brand identity blends playful energy with professional polish, inspired by the irreverent spirit of Caddyshack and the charm of downtown Abingdon. I started with hand-sketched gopher illustrations and explored type pairings to strike the right balance of welcoming, fun, and clean. The final logo suite is versatile across signage, merchandise, and digital applications.

BRAND APPLICATIONs

WEB DESIGN

I designed the Gopher Hole website to reflect the playful-yet-polished tone of the brand, with a focus on clarity, ease of booking, and responsive layouts for mobile use. The site supports league registration, event promotion, and general visitor info.

SPATIAL DESIGN

The spatial design for Gopher Hole was centered around flexibility and versatility — creating a layout that supports smooth day-to-day operations while also allowing the space to easily transform for special events and private parties.

 

The process began in 2D, then transitioned into 3D using SketchUp, where I explored multiple layout variations in collaboration with my client. These discussions directly informed key renovation decisions within the space.

 

Once the final layout was complete, I brought the 3D model into Twinmotion to create a virtual walkthrough. This helped visualize the flow and energy of the space, complete with people interacting in real time.

MARKETING MATERIALS

I developed and managed a range of marketing materials for Gopher Hole, including newsletters, promotional postcards, business cards, and social media content. In addition to content creation, I handled day-to-day social media management, ensuring consistent brand voice and engagement across platforms. I also helped strategize ways to drive traffic into the space through events, league nights, watch parties, simulator specials, and other promotional opportunities.
