Interactive Fashion Show
Role: Creative Director
Project Type: Branding, UX, Event Production & Coordination
Project Date: December 2024
2% began as a collaboration between five Creative Technology & Design master’s students in a course designed to simulate real-world professional experiences, emphasizing client relations, budgeting, and project scoping. What started as a small initiative quickly expanded into a collective of over 50 collaborators, including fashion designers, sound and lighting professionals, models, photographers, and more.
The project evolved from ideation and industry research to defining our mission and core values, which shaped every aspect of our work. These foundations informed our final deliverables: a Brand Style Guide, Interactive Website, AR Experience, and the culminating event—an immersive, live sustainable fashion show.

MY ROLE:
As the Creative Director at 2%, I oversaw Brand Design and various other visual design elements. I also led outreach and collaboration with fashion designers, model directors, models, stylists, and photographers. I played a key role in seamlessly bringing together multiple elements for the event, including the integration of the runway designs with sound and lighting. Working closely with the model director, I helped create sections and themes for the show, ensuring that everyone stayed aligned while fulfilling their individual roles.
MISSION
We aim to confront the devastating environmental and human impacts of the fashion industry - its vast water use, carbon emissions, and worker exploitation - by promoting a circular economy that values sustainability, ethical practices, and respect for both the planet and the people behind the garments.
BRAND STORY
In a world where fast fashion dominates and wasteful practices persist, 2% dares to flip the script. 2% challenges the status quo and celebrates creativity, innovation, and sustainability.
2% is a multi-layered journey that begins online with an interactive website. This digital gallery invites users to discover emerging sustainable designers in an environment as rich and textured as the fabrics. Each piece tells a story, creating a tangible connection between the digital and the real.
The innovation doesn’t stop there. With the AR try-on tool, fashion enthusiasts step into a world where they can experience the artistry firsthand, exploring sustainable style from the comfort of their screens. It’s an invitation to engage with fashion in a way that’s immersive, personal, and eco-conscious.
The experience culminates in a live runway show that electrifies audiences with a fusion of striking visual graphics, powerful storytelling, and the raw, unapologetic energy of activism. Each designer strides into the spotlight on a platform built not just to display clothing, but to provoke thought, spark conversations, and inspire change.
2% is more than fashion—it’s a statement, a community, and a call to rethink what we wear and why we wear it.

AR EXPERIENCE
AR Designer: Yuchen Zhang
Our team 3D scanned every garment featured on the runway, creating detailed digital replicas of our designs. Yuchen spearheaded the AR development, integrating these scans with custom Snapchat filters to create an innovative experience that allowed the audience to virtually “try on” the clothing. This cutting-edge fusion of fashion and technology deepened engagement and offered a fresh perspective on experiencing style in the digital era.

DATA VISUALIZATION
We developed data visualizations that aligned with our mission of raising awareness about waste in the fashion industry. These visuals effectively set the stage for showcasing sustainable designers and their innovative runway pieces.

Spatial Design
Lead Designer: Jacob Rodgers
For the spatial design of the fashion show event, we utilized SketchUp and Twinmotion to meticulously plan the layout, ensuring a seamless flow from audience entry and check-in to the runway experience. Our design encompassed key elements such as seating arrangements, lighting, sound, DJ setup, back-of-house operations, projections, and strategically placed TVs to enhance engagement. Emphasizing intentional interaction, we focused on how the audience would navigate, perceive, and connect with the space, crafting an immersive experience that extended beyond the runway.

Runway Lineup / Lighting + Sound Integration
In collaboration with the 2% Team, Model Director, and Lighting + Sound Team, we curated a Runway Lineup designed to create a dynamic, evolving atmosphere that complemented the aesthetic of the fashion designs. The lineup was structured into four distinct sections, allowing the space to transform alongside the collections. The show opened with lighter tones and casual pieces, gradually transitioning into darker, more futuristic tech-inspired designs, reinforcing the narrative and energy of the event.
LIVE Event
Runway Show + Interactive Technology
The event took place at the CMCI Studio in Boulder, CO, drawing a packed audience of over 150 attendees. Before the runway show, guests engaged with projections, data visualizations, designer showcases, and an interactive AR try-on experience, setting the stage for an immersive exploration of fashion and technology.
Our professor, John Breznicky, opened the show by providing context on the project’s evolution, our team’s collaboration, and the conceptual journey that shaped the event. This introduction led into the live runway presentation, after which the featured fashion designers took the stage to share insights into their work.
To close the event, the 2% team delivered a final thank-you speech, expressing gratitude to attendees, collaborators, and designers. Following the show, guests had the opportunity to connect with designers, models, and other contributors, extending the conversation beyond the runway.

REFLECTION
Challenges:
Our biggest challenges were a limited budget and a tight timeline—we had just one semester to take the project from ideation to full execution. We overcame these constraints through resourcefulness and creative problem-solving. With more time and resources, we could have expanded the project’s scope even further.
Key Takeaways:
One of the most important insights we gained from the fashion show was the value of providing a platform for diverse creatives to share their work. Seeing various disciplines and talents come together in one public space not only celebrated individual creativity but also fostered a stronger sense of community in Boulder.
